The group provides a range of services to the Regulatory and Identity Services branch, including operational policy, market service, product strategy and innovation, design and content, and data analytics. Based in Wellington, the Business Insights team is one of the branch’s main data analytics teams, made up of data engineers, data analysts / dashboard developers, and data scientists who work together across the full data lifecycle — from data sourcing and modelling to advanced analytics and insight delivery. We focus on the delivery of data marts, business intelligence (BI) products, statistical modelling and data analysis that creates valuable insights to influence operational and policy decision-making. About the Role | He angitūtanga Reporting to Manager Business Insights, this role is responsible for collecting, reporting, and analysing data to deliver data products (e.g. reports, analysis, dashboard). This role would suit someone looking to join an end-to-end data team that is embedded in service delivery, as it offers a unique opportunity to directly influence business outcomes, collaborate with key stakeholders, and translate data into insights that enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. You will have the opportunity to work with stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver timely, accurate insights and reports that support business decisions. Analyse data to identify trends, patterns, and key operational metrics, and collaborate with Senior Data Analysts to document business rules and assumptions. Partner with Data Engineers to profile data sources, address data quality issues, and support data transformation. Monitor and maintain data accuracy, identify opportunities to improve data and reporting processes, and develop, automate, and deploy BI dashboards that improve visibility and operational performance. What you bring | Nōu te rourou We are looking for someone who has a passion for data analytics, has great communications and people skills, is customer-focused, and willing to learn and work in a collaborative and fast-moving environment: Strong experience in data analytics (2 to 4 years) combined with experience in reporting and analysis Demonstrated by a proven ability to transform data into actionable insights that drive decision-making Proficient in programming languages such as: SAS, SQL, R, Python; and experience working with BI software such as: SAS Viya, Power BI, Tableau. Good practise data visualisation and data storytelling skills. Strong communication skills and ability to engage with business users Experience working as part of a project team delivering quality products and services within agreed timeframes.
