Description

High Point University is currently seeking a full-time Data and Operations Specialist within the department of Research and Planning. The Data and Operations Specialist maintains critical administrative functions for the Graduate School and provides comprehensive data support for institutional assessment and reporting needs. This position collaborates closely with office directors to ensure accurate policy documentation, student records management, and seamless execution of key events including commencement ceremonies and placement testing processes. The position also maintains digital systems including websites, databases, and reporting tools while providing exceptional service to faculty, staff, and students.
Experience and Training
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or other comparable area is required. Three years of prior relevant experience is preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, organizational and prioritization, collaborative, and customer service skills.
  • Keen eye for detail, and demonstrated writing and editorial skills required to write and copy-edit reports, proposals, business correspondence, and policies.
  • Time management skills required, with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Ability to balance multiple and competing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and administrators in various disciplines, and to represent the University effectively with the general public.
  • Ability to work independently, with good professional judgment and minimal direction.

Essential Functions

  • Work closely with the Director of Graduate Operations and the Director of Institutional Research and Assessment, but also support all areas in the Office of Research and Planning.
  • Maintain updates to the Graduate and Professional School Bulletin (policy changes, programs changes, faculty listing, calendars, etc.).
  • Process FERPA forms and update the spreadsheet that faculty/staff access via Blackboard.
  • Assist with Graduate School Commencement in May and December.
  • Assist with processing graduate diplomas and certificates.
  • Maintain inventory for processing diplomas and certificates.
  • Assist with the placement testing process for incoming students.
  • Assist with Qualtrics support for the university including the creation of accounts.
  • Assist in the scheduling process and distributions of course evaluations.
  • Assist in reporting institutional data for internal and external requests.
  • Maintain the Placement Testing and Norcross Graduate School’s website. Ensure current and accurate information is posted.
  • Other clerical duties such as mailing letters, scanning documents, reviewing registration, providing departments with requested reports, etc.
  • Proficiency with Excel and editing PDF documents.
  • Experience with Colleague preferred but not required.

Accountability
The Data and Operations Specialist is directly accountable to the Vice President for Research and Planning.
