The Data Warehouse and Decision Support Section in the Division of Management Services, Bureau of Information Technology Services, is seeking applicants for a Data and Reporting Analyst position. Do you want to make a difference in students’ lives by providing quality data to local, state and federal policymakers? Do you excel at creating Business Intelligence reports and dashboards, defining report requirements, testing extract, transfer, and load (ETL) processes and dashboard outputs, and digging into data? POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides technical expertise and assistance to staff in the Department of Public Instruction, local educational agencies, and other community agencies in the planning, design, development, training, implementation, technical support, and review of IT data systems such as WISEid, WISEdata, WISEstaff and WISEdash. This position will act as a business and data analyst for the division and will work with program area leads and external customers to gather system and data requirements, translate those requirements to technical specifications, and build the reports and dashboards to enable stakeholders to answer their important education questions. This position will also jointly lead data quality efforts for annual data snapshots.

QUALIFICATIONS

Please address the following in your resume and/or letter of qualifications.

A minimally qualified applicant must have experience with all the below:

  • Creating Structured Query Language (SQL) queries
  • Creating business intelligence (BI) reports or dashboards (e.g., PowerSchool Unified Insights, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or similar)
  • Defining or documenting business or data requirements
  • Performing unit testing or user acceptance testing activities (e.g., script creation/modification, test plan creation, communication of test results, etc.)

Please note that a college degree is not required for this position.

Well-qualified applicants will also have experience:

  • Experience leading a data quality initiative (e.g., coordinating data quality efforts with program areas, running reports or conducting data analysis to identify problem areas, or similar)
  • Education, training, or experience with Agile/Scrum project management/software development methodology/practice
  • Experience with K-12 education data or with WISE (Wisconsin Information System for Education)
  • Applying respect, equity, and inclusion practices
