Responsibilities

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:

IVC Evidensia is undergoing an exciting digital transformation. Key to this is to improve the management of our core data sets, bringing data from disparate systems together to improve management information reporting, underpin AI initiatives and enrich the experience of our clients and patients.
This is a key role within IVC Evidensia’s Business Systems team. Working alongside Infrastructure (which includes the Office 365 team) and Service Operations, Business Systems defines and delivers enterprise IT services, from the software used by vets in clinics through to data warehousing and analytics. As such, the team covers a mix of development (Visual Studio, Power Platform, SQL) and governance (project management, business analyst, product owner) skillsets.
Technically, the Data Architect will be expected to fulfil many of the tasks traditionally covered by a DBA role in a cloud infrastructure environment. We primarily rely on Microsoft products, so experience of Microsoft SQL server and its variants in Azure will be central to the role.
In addition, acting as the domain Enterprise Architect, the Data Architect will be the technical authority accountable for defining and implementing our strategy for growing our data warehouse and BI capability. As such, the role holder will be expected to drive alignment between our data strategy and business goals. The Data Architect will work closely with our user community and will interact with the IVC Evidensia leadership team to ensure our reporting architecture meets their needs.
This is a non-managerial role with no direct budget/cost centre or people management accountability.
This is a hybrid working role, with the expectation you’d split time between working in our Keynsham office once per week & working from home.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Data Architect will be the authority accountable for the overarching design and future direction of the technologies that underpin our data management strategy. The Data Architect will be expected to have significant gravitas, across all operating countries in the Group, in defining common approaches and creating the mandates necessary to deliver them.
We’d expect this role to spend time acting ‘hands on’ and will be expert at applying the technologies set out in the over-arching strategy.
Additionally, as part of the wider Business Systems team, the Data Architect should expect to provide technical leadership to teams working with neighboring technologies, most notably Microsoft’s Power Platform and Azure infrastructure.
