Description

Design end-to-end data architectures and modern cloud-based data platforms.
Translate business requirements into technical architectures, solution designs and implementation roadmaps.
Lead the design of data lakes, data warehouses, lakehouse platforms and enterprise analytics solutions.
Define data modelling standards, data integration patterns, ETL/ELT processes and data migration strategies.
Design and optimise data solutions using Microsoft Azure services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage and Azure Synapse Analytics.
Evaluate and implement technologies such as Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks where appropriate.
Establish data governance, security, quality, lineage and access-control standards.
Work closely with data engineers, BI developers, cloud architects and delivery teams to ensure successful implementation.
Produce high-level and low-level design documentation, architecture diagrams and technical specifications.
Engage with customers and senior stakeholders to explain architectural decisions and recommend appropriate solutions.
Support pre-sales activities, technical workshops, estimates and solution proposals where required.

Essential experience and skillsSignificant experience in data architecture, data engineering or enterprise data platform design.
Strong Microsoft Azure data ecosystem experience.
Experience with data integration, ETL/ELT, data warehousing and cloud-based data platforms.
Excellent SQL and data modelling skills, including dimensional modelling and star schemas.
Understanding of modern data lakehouse architectures and distributed data processing.
Experience with data governance, data quality, security and regulatory considerations.
Ability to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions.
Strong communication, stakeholder management and documentation skills.
Experience delivering technology projects in a customer-facing or consultancy environment.
