OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Architect to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining the data architecture of our organization. This role requires a strong understanding of database management systems and the ability to analyze complex data structures to support business needs. The Data Architect will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that data solutions align with organizational goals.

SKILLS

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in data architecture, including enterprise data modeling, metadata management, and semantic design.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working with government or large-scale public sector data systems is preferred.
• Proven experience designing and documenting enterprise data architectures that support scalability, interoperability, and alignment with organizational standards.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing and enforcing data modeling standards, including logical and physical models for registers and APIs.
• Experience creating and maintaining data dictionaries, glossaries, and semantic rules to ensure consistency across systems.
• Experience defining and implementing data quality assurance standards, including validation rules, monitoring, and remediation processes.
• Ability to establish and document data register standards, including structure, metadata, and lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks and tools for metadata management and data lineage.
• Demonstrated ability to provide data architectural oversight and mentorship to teams.
• Experience conducting technical reviews, sprint-based knowledge transfer, and producing onboarding and handover documentation.
• Experience working in an agile development environment with User Experience (UX)/Service Designers, Software Developers, and Scrum Masters to iteratively create or improve digital products and services from conception to production.
• Experience presenting solutions and strategies to industry, open-source community or Ministry domain experts and project partners.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects and associated distribution platforms (i.e. GitHub).

Preference may be given for the following:

• Experience with designing and developing APIs using frameworks such as Spring Boot, FastAPI, NestJS, or Express.js.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for data workflows, including automated testing, validation, and deployment of data models and transformations

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00-$135,000.00 per year

• Define a data architecture blueprint that supports secure, scalable, and interoperable data exchange across systems for automated eligibility criteria and verification
• * * Map and document authoritative data sources, including ownership, access policies, and integration requirements for eligibility verification.
• * * Ensure adherence to metadata standards, data quality rules, lineage tracking, and stewardship roles.
• * * Ensure data privacy and compliance with provincial legislation (e.g., FOIPPA),
• * * Design integration patterns with the Secure Data Exchange Platform (SDX), including schema definitions, transformation logic, and policy enforcement.
• * * Create logical and physical data models for eligibility rules, user profiles, and audit logs to support maintainability and performance.
• * * Ensure data discovery, self-serve and use through listing in data and service catalogues APIs
• * * Provide ongoing knowledge transfer and technical documentation, including sprint-based updates, training sessions, and handover documentation.
