We’re looking for a data architect to join the Ookla solutions architecture team and help us process the world’s best collection of data on mobile and fixed internet performance and transform it to valuable insights and features for our end users. As a data architect, you will play a key role in evolving our data platform to meet the future needs of real-time big data processing, low latency analytical queries, AI/ML integration, and growing compliance requirements. In this role, you will design and implement scalable data models, storages and pipelines for critical product features that meet both our end users’ and internal stakeholders’ requirements while ensuring international compliance.

Education & Background

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
• Background check is required

Technical Skills

• Strong background in object oriented and functional programming using languages like Python, Scala, Java or Go
• Strong working knowledge of SQL, databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Iceberg and query engines like Athena and Trino
• Experience with streaming and event-driven architectures to process high volume data using tools like Spark
• Strong understanding of data modeling and modern data warehouse architectures like lakehouse
• Experience with at least with one of AWS, Google Cloud Platform or Azure services
• Experience with AI/ML is nice to have
