Description
Description New Hampshire Public Defender works diligently to provide quality representation to indigent defendants accused of crimes in all state courts. The office assistant provides reception services to the office, both via telephone and to in person visitors. Key Key Responsibilities • Utilize various file sharing platforms to accurately log, process, and distribute incoming discovery in cases. • Prioritize, print, and distribute emails from courts. • Prepare correspondence for mailing and handles outgoing office mail. • Provide secondary coverage for office phones and reception duties. • Compile jury mat consistent with local trial schedule. • Compile indictment list consistent with grandy jury cycle. • Operate computer, scanner, printer, photocopier, fax machine, and other necessary office equipment. • Filing, upon request. Requirements Education and Experience • High school diploma or GED and a minimum of one year administrative or executive secretarial experience is required. • Associate degree or paralegal certificate and two years of related experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Maintains professionalism at all times. • Works well under pressure and demonstrates proactive attitude toward problem solving, conflict resolution, and the needs of the office and administrative staff. • Ability to work with minimal supervision. • Understanding of legal documents and legal process. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. • Superior organizational skills. Physical Requirements Physical requirements include retrieving and distributing files, written documents, or office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds; retrieving and replacing objects from shelves up to eight feet high; sitting and keyboarding for extended periods of time.
