Description
Overview Installs, configures, and maintains data protection solutions in a multi-data center enterprise deployment. Performs data backups. Performs data restores. Performs high availability and disaster recovery planning, implementation, and testing. Assists Business Continuity/Safety Administrators with architecting and implementing information technology disaster recovery plans. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communications, coordination, and working relations with information technology staff and management. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision – typically reports directly to a manager. Responsibilities 1. Installs, configures, and maintains data protection solutions in a multi-data center enterprise deployment. Installs, configures, and maintains server-side hardware/software. Installs, configures, and maintains client-side software. Monitors hardware/software capacity requirements. Assists with new hardware/software planning and procurement. 2. Performs data backups. Works with system administrators to schedule and perform backups. Monitors daily backups for failures and remediates server/client issues. Train system administrators to perform daily backup monitoring. Performs backup trend analyses. 3. Performs data restores. Trains system administrators to perform restores. Performs ad-hoc restores. Works with system administrators to perform client recovery testing. 4. Performs high availability and disaster recovery planning, implementation, and testing. Architects and implements disaster recovery capable data protection solutions in a multi-data center enterprise deployment. Performs high availability and disaster recovery testing of data protection solutions. Coordinates department high availability and disaster recovery testing. Participates in business high availability and disaster recovery testing. Submits high availability and disaster recovery testing results to Business Continuity/Safety Administrators. 5. Assists Business Continuity/Safety Administrators with architecting and implementing information technology disaster recovery plans. Assists Business Continuity/Safety Administrator with business continuity software administration. Assists information technology personnel with maintaining the information technology business continuity plan. 6. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communications, coordination, and working relations with information technology staff and management. Keeps management informed of significant problems and of progress attained in reaching established objectives. Provides recommendations to establish new and more effective systems and future equipment needs. Suggests systems-related procedures and changes. Assists and supports information technology personnel as needed. Prepares reports of system activities and documents system procedures. Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required. Qualifications Training/Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in computer related discipline or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience. Required Knowledge: Understanding of Credit Union operations and information needs. Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the data protection discipline. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the information technology industry. Knowledge of business software applications. Experience Required: 5+ year’s experience in field or related area. Data protection experience. High availability/disaster recovery experience. UNIX, Linux, Windows software/hardware administration experience.
