The Data Center Commissioning Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all commissioning activities to ensure critical systems are installed, tested, and functioning per design and operational requirements. This leadership role serves as the central point of contact for commissioning activities from pre-functional testing through integrated systems testing and final handover to operations.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • 8–10+ years of commissioning experience, with a focus on data centers or mission-critical facilities.
  • Strong technical expertise in electrical, mechanical, and control systems (HVAC, UPS, BMS, generators, power distribution).
  • Deep understanding of commissioning procedures, standards, and regulatory frameworks such as ASHRAE, NEBB, and local building codes.
  • Proficiency in using commissioning software tools and digital documentation platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings, schematics, technical submittals, and O&M manuals.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams, commissioning agents, and subcontractors on large-scale projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills, with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering, or a related field, is required.
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, execution, and oversight of the data center commissioning plan in alignment with construction and project schedules.
  • Manage commissioning teams, schedules, and resources to meet key construction milestones and overall project delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate with design engineers, contractors, QA/QC teams, and vendors to verify that MEP systems meet design intent and operational expectations.
  • Review, validate, and approve installation, startup, and testing procedures for electrical, mechanical, HVAC, controls, and life safety systems.
  • Conduct or supervise functional performance testing and ensure system compliance with industry standards (ASHRAE, NEBB), local codes, and Uptime Institute guidelines.
  • Identify system deficiencies during commissioning and coordinate timely corrective actions to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Maintain and manage all commissioning documentation including test scripts, reports, field logs, and formal sign-offs.
  • Provide clear and consistent updates to project stakeholders through regular reporting, meetings, and dashboards.
  • Lead or support integrated systems testing (IST), final acceptance walkthroughs, and client handover activities.
  • Ensure a safe work environment throughout commissioning phases, enforcing EHS protocols and risk mitigation practices.
  • Deliver training and transfer of knowledge to facility operations teams, including handover of O&M documentation, procedures, and system manuals.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
