Your Role at Cabot:
Cabot Corporation is seeking a Data Center Platform Owner / Solution Architect to join the Applications & Platform team at either the Billerica, MA, Boston, MA or Alpharetta, GA locations.
The Data Center Platform Owner / Solution Architect is responsible for overseeing the development, maintenance, and strategic direction technology within all Cabot data centers. These data centers range from bigger colo data centers to small server farms with branch offices to IaaS and PaaS environments. They are the subject matter experts responsible for ensuring that technical initiatives are successfully and efficiently developed, executed, and delivered. The Data Center Platform Owner / Solution Architect is responsible for ensuring that we have the right team in place to support enhancements as well as day-to-day business-as-usual (BAU) issues and requests. They act as a coach, guide, and mentor for these teams (internal and external via MSP).
They must ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner, participate in escalations when needed, and be involved in the Problem Management process. They are also responsible for ensuring proper documentation exists, including SOPs, runbooks, etc.
They must comply with, actively engage in, and be a champion for all Digital processes, including the Project Delivery Lifecycle and ITIL Service Management processes.
The Data Center Platform Owner / Solution Architect is responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic roadmap for the current platforms and partners with Enterprise Architecture to evaluate next-generation technologies for the future.

Responsibilities

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Subject matter expert with deep knowledge of data centers infrastructure functionality.
  • Responsible for providing technical solutions (solution architecture) to meet the requirements outlined in Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) created by Business Relationship Managers (BRMs).
  • Ensures proper knowledge transfer to the support organization, including identifying knowledge gaps and creating SOPs.
  • Responsible for service lifecycle management, including understanding vendor support lifecycles, patching, and upgrades.
  • Drives continuous improvement of the platform.
  • Works in partnership with BRMs.
  • Defines and maintains consistent service management levels. Ensures that customer Service Level Expectations (SLEs) are understood, delivered upon, and met.
  • Ensures that service delivery is appropriately coordinated across product and platform teams within the functional departments to maintain continuity. In relation to the service portfolio, serves as a liaison to the BRM, IT Process Manager, and Enterprise Architects, and acts as a focal point for services in their portfolio.
  • Through ongoing demand management reviews, identifies and prioritizes technical work to ensure service-specific requests can be fulfilled.
  • Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in accordance with the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.

What You Will Bring to Cabot:

  • University degree or equivalent experience in related technologies required.
  • 7+ years’ experience in data center management required;
  • Experience in virtualization technology (including VMware and HyperV)
  • Experience with back-up recovery and disaster recovery solutions
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and Active Directory
  • Experience in environments with physical hardware and cloud IaaS and PaaS solutions.
  • Entra ID experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with third parties, including MSPs is preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, Platform Engineering and IT Automation is a plus.
  • Certification relevant to the technology scope is preferred.
  • Familiarity with IT security, application development, network technologies, hardware, software, and related interfaces.
  • Proven ability to organize resources, manage and evaluate large and/or complex projects, and negotiate deadlines.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead others in project settings and provide expert consultation and advice.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience leading and/or facilitating meetings.
  • Ability to understand and translate both business-level concepts and highly technical information. As a Platform Owner, you will have to effectively bridge business requirements with technical execution.
