Job Description Due to continued project awards, FPC Global is seeking a Senior Mechanical Commissioning Engineer with demonstrable experience delivering Tier III / Tier IV-aligned data centre cooling and mechanical infrastructure. This role is accountable for the planning, execution, and technical leadership of mechanical commissioning activities across complex mission-critical facilities, ensuring systems meet design intent, availability objectives, redundancy requirements, and operational readiness criteria, in accordance with Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, and applicable international standards. The position is highly site-focused and requires hands-on leadership through Integrated Systems Testing (IST), including failure mode, redundancy, and fault tolerance validation. Key Responsibilities Mechanical Commissioning Leadership Lead end-to-end commissioning of mission-critical mechanical systems including: Chilled water and condenser water systems Air-cooled and water-cooled chillers Cooling towers and heat rejection systems CRAH / CRAC units and in-row cooling AHUs, FCUs and pressurisation systems Pumps, valves, controls and associated plant Integrated Systems Testing (IST) Develop and execute mechanical IST strategies and scripts aligned with Uptime Institute methodology. Lead failure mode testing, redundancy validation (N, N+1, 2N) and fault tolerance demonstrations. Coordinate mechanical participation in black-building and site-wide integrated test scenarios. FAT / SAT / Functional Performance Testing Plan, manage, and witness Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for major mechanical plant. Lead Functional Performance Testing (FPT) under normal, degraded and failure conditions to validate performance and control sequences. Design & Commissionability Reviews Perform design reviews at all project stages from a commissionability, maintainability and availability perspective. Review mechanical specifications, P&IDs, control philosophies and vendor technical submittals. Controls, BMS & EPMS Integration Validate integration of mechanical systems with BMS and EPMS platforms. Verify alarms, trending, interlocks, sequences of operation and automated response during IST. Project Interface & Coordination Interface with project managers, construction teams, MEP contractors, OEMs and client representatives. Coordinate closely with electrical and IT commissioning teams to ensure full MEP and controls integration. Documentation & Handover Develop and manage all mechanical commissioning documentation including: Commissioning plans and execution strategies Test scripts, procedures and checklists Issue logs, punch lists and risk registers Final commissioning reports and systems manuals Support client handover and transition to steady-state operations. Compliance & Standards Ensure compliance with relevant standards including: Uptime Institute Tier Standards ASHRAE (TC 9.9, 90.1) Local mechanical and environmental codes Support LEED or equivalent sustainability objectives where applicable. Troubleshooting & Risk Management Identify, analyse, and resolve mechanical system deficiencies during commissioning. Mitigate risk to uptime, programme, safety and operational performance. Health, Safety & Leadership Enforce strict HSE compliance on site including RAMS reviews, toolbox talks and risk assessments. Lead, mentor and coordinate commissioning engineers, subcontractors and vendors. Qualifications Qualifications & Experience Essential Qualifications Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Tech / B.E. or equivalent). 10+ years experience in mechanical testing and commissioning. Minimum 5 years commissioning data centres or mission-critical facilities, including demonstrable leadership of mechanical IST activities. Technical Experience Deep expertise in: Data centre cooling architectures (air-cooled, water-cooled, hybrid) Redundancy and resilience strategies (N, N+1, 2N) Hydronic balancing, TAB and performance optimisation Failure mode and effects testing (FMET) Proven responsibility for technical quality across multiple projects. Documentation & Technical Output Development of commissioning specifications, methodologies and scripts. Review and validation of control sequences and operating philosophies. Production of detailed technical and executive-level reports. Tools & Platforms BMS / EPMS and digital commissioning platforms. AutoCAD / BIM / Visio. Exposure to cloud platforms (Google, Microsoft, Amazon) and data analytics. Familiarity with RIBA / AIA stages of work or international equivalents.
