Description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Data Center SME to support the JS J7 Training DevSecOps pipeline core infrastructure and data center. This position is fully onsite in Suffolk, Virginia and requires an active Top Secret clearance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE DATA CENTER SME:

  • 12+ years of experience in enterprise IT with a focus on virtualization and storage
  • Expert in VMware technologies: vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, NSX
  • Hands-on with block, file, and object storage platforms
  • Experienced in hyperconverged systems like Nutanix and VxRail
  • Skilled in automation using PowerShell and PowerCLI
  • Solid foundation in networking and security (firewalls, VLANs, zero trust)
  • One or more IAT Level III certifications:
Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and fine-tune advanced virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Architect and maintain enterprise-level SAN/NAS storage solutions including NetApp, Dell EMC, and Pure Storage
  • Lead initiatives to migrate and consolidate legacy systems into virtualized or hyperconverged infrastructures
  • Deliver Tier 3 support and conduct root cause analysis for complex issues in virtualization and storage environments
  • Integrate and align infrastructure components across compute, network, storage, and cloud to eliminate silos
  • Support hybrid environments spanning on-premises, edge computing, and public/private cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Develop high availability and disaster recovery strategies using virtualization, storage replication, and backup technologies
  • Contribute across the full system lifecycle: concept development, design, integration, testing, deployment, and operations
  • Implement automation frameworks using tools like PowerCLI and Ansible to streamline provisioning and system maintenance
  • Monitor performance metrics and execute capacity planning for compute and storage resources
  • Enforce compliance with security and configuration standards such as DISA STIGs and CIS Benchmarks
  • Provide guidance on data center modernization, virtualization strategy, and cloud adoption readiness
  • Assess and recommend emerging technologies in software-defined infrastructure and AI-driven operations
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, DevOps, and application teams to ensure cohesive performance across all layers
