OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Data Center Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing and supporting IT infrastructure within a data center environment. This role involves ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our data center operations while collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement best practices in network management and system administration.

SKILLS

  • Proficient in computer networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, GPO, and SSL.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles including IDS/IPS systems and encryption methods.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Citrix.
  • Familiarity with operating systems including Linux (Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu), Windows, macOS, BSD, and Solaris.
  • Knowledge of programming/scripting languages such as Java or PowerShell for automation tasks.
  • Experience with load balancing techniques and high availability solutions in a data center environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an Agile environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain data center infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and networking equipment.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network performance issues, ensuring high availability and reliability of services.
  • Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, and other security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and implement necessary remediation actions.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to support cloud security initiatives using AWS or Azure platforms.
  • Manage routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and ensure proper configuration of WAN/LAN environments.
  • Utilize tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, or Splunk for network monitoring and management.
  • Develop automation scripts using Python or Bash for system administration tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with ITIL standards while managing change requests through the SDLC process.
  • Provide technical support for network installation and configuration of Cisco routers, switches (Meraki), and other telecommunications equipment.
