OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Data Center Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the infrastructure of our data center, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer networking, telecommunications, and hands-on technical skills. You will work collaboratively with other technicians and engineers to troubleshoot issues, perform installations, and provide exceptional customer service.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as a service technician or in a similar role within a data center environment.
  • Strong knowledge of computer networking principles, including LAN technologies and Ethernet protocols.
  • Familiarity with CCTV systems for security monitoring within the data center.
  • Experience in telecommunication systems installation and maintenance is preferred.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools such as an ohmmeter for troubleshooting electrical issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics related to network installations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a customer-focused attitude.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.

Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain network equipment including Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and VoIP systems.
  • Perform fiber splicing and cabling tasks using Cat5 and Cat6 cables to ensure robust connectivity.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and infrastructure to identify potential issues or areas for improvement.
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools for equipment repair and installation tasks.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of network schematics to optimize data flow within the center.
  • Provide field service support to troubleshoot hardware or connectivity issues as they arise.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed, including schematics, configurations, and service records.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with NEC standards and low voltage regulations.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by responding promptly to inquiries and resolving technical issues efficiently.
