Job Description: NW Passive & Data Center Expert Position Title: Passive & Data Center Expert Location: Bangalore (Preferred)/Hyderabad Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Passive Infrastructure and Data Center Expert to design, implement, and manage the physical layer of data center facilities. The role involves expertise in passive infrastructure (cabling, racks, power, cooling, and physical security) as well as experience in end-to-end data center planning, optimization, and operations. The candidate will work closely with IT, Facilities, OEMs, and vendors to ensure high availability, efficiency, and scalability of data center environments. Key Responsibilities Passive Infrastructure Design, implement, and manage structured cabling systems (fiber optic & copper). Plan and oversee installation of racks, patch panels, PDUs, and cable management systems. Ensure compliance with TIA/EIA, BICSI, and ISO standards for passive infrastructure. Conduct periodic audits and ensure adherence to labeling, documentation, and testing standards. Data Center Facilities Management Oversee data center layout planning, rack allocation, and airflow management. Manage power and cooling requirements (UPS, precision cooling, CRAC/CRAH units). Ensure compliance with Tier standards (Uptime Institute) and redundancy requirements (N+1, 2N). Collaborate with facilities teams on electrical, HVAC, and fire suppression systems. Implement and monitor DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) tools. Strong knowledge of power systems: UPS, DG sets, PDUs, switchgear, and electrical distribution. Experience with cooling systems: CRAC/CRAH, precision air conditioning, chillers, hot/cold aisle containment. Fire suppression & detection systems: FM200, Novec 1230, VESDA, hydrants. Building Management Systems (BMS) / Environmental Monitoring Systems. Operations & Optimization Drive best practices for data center capacity management and expansion planning. Implement physical security controls (biometrics, CCTV, access management). Ensure adherence to ISO 27001, ITIL, and other industry standards. Develop documentation, SOPs, and escalation matrices for DC operations. Lead vendor evaluation, negotiations, and contract management for passive and DC infrastructure. Required Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of structured cabling (fiber/copper), rack design, and cable management. Expertise in data center power, cooling, and environmental systems. Understanding of Tier classifications (I-IV) and design best practices. Experience with DCIM tools (e.g., Schneider, Nlyte, or similar). Familiarity with BMS (Building Management Systems) and monitoring tools. Strong vendor management, negotiation, and project management skills. Knowledge of security standards (ISO 27001, PCI-DSS) and compliance frameworks. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Computer Science / IT / related field. Certifications preferred: BICSI, DC Professional (DCP), CDCP, CDCS, or similar. 10+ years of experience in data center and passive infrastructure management. Proven track record of managing large-scale enterprises or data centers. Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Attention to detail and adherence to standards.
