Department: Operations Position: Data Conversion Specialist Reporting Manager: Operations Manager Location: Tananger, Norway The Data Conversion Specialist is responsible for the accurate transcription of E&P data from various media types to digital storage and the outputting of digital data to various media types. The Data Conversion Specialist requires a basic knowledge of subsurface data and media formats and the ability to understand and comply with the individual requirements of each client and project. Tasks: ● Ensure daily and monthly goals for projects, as set by management and the team, are met. ● Distinguish between various data formats and media types in order to format/convert subsurface data. ● Transcribe data using various media, drives and software. ● QC subsurface data against media labels and indexed information. ● Initiate communication with the team, projects managers and customers to report and solve problems related to data or jobs. ● Provide client services support by outputting data to specified media in specified format and labeling media according to job requirements. ● Update the Work Management Tool with comments and billing information for each job. ● Use tape cleaning devices to clean tapes (9-tracks) prior to reading. ● Report hardware or tape issues via ticket system or email. Skills: 1. Safety first mentality. 2. Fluent in Norwegian and English. 3. Basic understanding of subsurface media types and formats. 4. Interacts with people effectively. Able and willing to share and receive information. Co- operates within the group and across groups with a strong emphasis on teamwork. 5. Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness. Shows concern for all aspects of the job and follows up on work outputs. 6. Takes personal responsibility for job performance and adheres to commitments. Work Environment: Page 2 of This job operates in a professional office environment. The team consists of experienced operators with long tenure. There is a good social working environment. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. The standard working days and hours are set from Monday to Friday, operating hours between 08.00 and 16.00. Required Education and Experience 1. Completion of secondary education (GCSEs or equivalent). 2. 3+ years working in the E&P industry or related computer science experience. 3. Knowledge of E&P Data Management requirements and expectations. 4. Knowledge of SEG formats and media types.
