JOB OVERVIEW

Contract: 6 months initially (likely to extend) Starting September2025
Location: Hybrid – Base at Lincoln, Pilgrim (Boston) or Grantham for occasional site meetings

The Data Delivery Group Lead will be responsible for the delivery of the data workstreams, playing a key role in the implementation of the new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system, Nervecentre, across United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The successful candidate will ensure appropriate planning and support is in place to enable the successful migration of the data to be migrated to the new EPR, including data quality and archiving This includes providing practical support to both the wider Implementation Team and clinical teams across the organisation and sharing functionality and anticipated configuration of the new EPR and how operational processes could align.
They will also work with clinical teams to ensure alignment of goals and priorities to achieve successful implementation of the new EPR, working as a liaison between clinical and operational service workstreams, various IT Teams and the system suppliers and third parties as required, including (but not limited to) EMAP/DDC and the data migration partner. Some of the duties in this job description will be assisted by work undertaken within EMAP/DDC, by other acute trusts who are implementing Nervecentre

SKILLS

  • Proven experience in data migration (ETL) within large-scale clinical system implementations.
  • Leadership of data quality and cleansing processes across multiple systems.
  • Strong understanding of NHS data flows, Trust systems, and data reporting requirements.
  • Experience performing code mapping (source to target) and gap analysis against EPR specifications.
  • Knowledge of data archiving, retention, and integration of legacy data solutions.
  • Ability to oversee scenario testing, acceptance planning, and end-to-end QA of migrated data.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and team leadership skills across clinical, operational, and technical domains.
  • Experience with NerveCentre EPR or similar EPR systems is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of national NHS standards relating to digital records and patient data safety.
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and Teams.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Project management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2) or demonstrable experience in delivering large-scale digital programmes.

Responsibilities

Working collaboratively with all members of the Implementation Team and the Programme Manager, the postholder is responsible for ensuring their workstream activities are delivered within agreed timescales, appropriately escalating when problems arise and identifying mitigating actions to ensure the programme timeline is adhered to. Other duties and responsibilities include:

  • Oversight and responsibility for current state analysis across all data sources within scope for migration.
  • Have an understanding of the project and the associated timelines.
  • Oversee the Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes to support the migration of data.
  • Provide data and support to RPA/manual data migration processes where data cannot be migrated through the ETL process.
  • Gathering and understanding of current data flows highlighting key data items which are required to support reporting/management of patient care, working closely with the Reporting Delivery Group Lead.
  • Undertake a Gap Analysis of current data sources against the new EPR IFF specifications highlighting which data items can/cannot be migrated for key migration decisions to be made, and to support archiving.
  • Undertake Code Mapping – source to target system.
  • Lead on the cleansing of the data to be migrated. This will involve the logging and tracking of data quality issues. Taking the appropriate corrective action to resolve the issues.
  • Responsible for providing reports during the data migration process e.g. Volumetrics.
  • Responsible for ensuring the migration logic supports future workflow processes. Including scenario testing.
  • Provide input into the production and execution of acceptance test plans.
  • Oversight and responsibility of end-to-end testing of migrated data.
  • Responsible for the investigation of data migration issues at Trial Loads, Full Dress rehearsal (FDRH) and Go Live.
  • Assisting in the completion of Data capture workbooks to support migration activities.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the data migration and data quality strategies.
  • Facilitating agreement on the future state workflows and system design using the relevant identified Subject Matter Experts within the organisation based upon NerveCentre’s recommend Future State Workflows.
  • Reviewing NerveCentre’s standard configuration model and any required localisation (detail of which is to be entered into the NerveCentre design documentation), in collaboration with the Technical Delivery Group Lead(s) and partners within region
  • Identifying and escalating risks, issues, and process gaps to the project management team.
  • Providing relevant expertise within their agreed area of scope, e.g. Data Migration, Data Quality, Data Archiving
  • Completing with NerveCentre the relevant deliverables as appropriate within ther agreed area of scope.
  • Assisting with system testing during test cycles.
  • Working collaboratively with other Delivery Group Leads on service change and benefits realisation, supporting the development and implementation of proposals to exploit the potential of the new EPR where services cross boundaries and workflows can be improved using the EPR as an enabler.
  • Monitoring workstream progress through audits and write reports for the Programme Steering Group and wider EPR team, including performance against targets.
  • Providing leadership support for strategic and operational planning to ensure effective delivery of services through the implementation of the EPR.
  • Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with all stakeholders, including senior management teams both internal and external to the organisation.
  • Identifying service needs and identifying and communicating options to inform and define the ULTH ways of working, ensuring these are communicated via the identified governance channels of the Programme
  • Work closely with clinicians in order to achieve optimal decisions for overall patient care.
  • Responsible for policy implementation and service development within the Programme Team.
  • In collaboration with the wider Implementation Team, contribute to plans for digital aspects of service provision, contributing to medium term digital strategy and supporting delivery of long-term strategic digital/business plan.
  • Developing a plan for the delivery of the role’s responsibilities including identifying interdependencies, managing risks, modelling the potential impacts on the wider organisation, determining resource requirements, and building in contingency where necessary.
