JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join as the second hire in our expanding data team. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in building and maintaining the infrastructure required to manage our extensive and varied data streams. Working with the Data Lead, you will focus on developing data systems that allow for smooth and efficient data access, supporting both short-term requests and long-term data initiatives. This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to Echion’s mission by developing new data pipelines and supporting analytical work that drives product innovation. As the second hire, you will have the opportunity to lead and collaborate on exciting greenfield projects and put forward your own ideas. EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

· Degree in Computer Science, Physical Sciences, Engineering, or a related field is desirable (applications from MPhil/PhD graduates are welcomed).

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

· 2 years of professional experience is desirable, though entry-level candidates with a strong foundation in data engineering and a willingness to learn and grow within the company are also encouraged to apply.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

· Python fluency is required.
· Experience with a modern data stack is desirable (we use GCP, Dagster, Snowflake, and Metabase).
· Familiarity with scientific analysis methods and machine learning techniques for data science applications is desirable.

  • Assist in creating dashboards, reports, and data visualisations to provide insights that inform science and business decisions.
  • Develop image analysis capabilities and work with data science tools to extract more sophisticated insights from electrochemical and other technical data.
  • Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to refine data analysis processes and enhance battery performance prediction accuracy.
  • Build out Echion’s battery simulation capabilities making use of our historical data
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines to collect, clean, and store lab metadata, electrochemical experiment results, and other data types, ensuring accessibility and integrity across the company.
· Develop scalable database solutions to support Echion’s scientific and business requirements.
· Collaborate with other departments to identify and implement systems that streamline data handling and improve data accessibility.
· Use in-house analytical tools for electrochemical data to support specific projects and business needs, ensuring data outputs are actionable and user-friendly.
