POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer I to join our Global Finance & Data Analytics team. Our global data warehouse is live and supporting data from 18 e-commerce and wholesale businesses. This role will focus first on supporting and maintaining the existing infrastructure to ensure stability and reliability. Beyond that, you’ll take ownership of performance optimization and guide the long-term evolution of the technology stack as business requirements expand. You will work closely with the Lead Data Scientist, contributing to the ETL of customer metrics initiatives (supporting the calculation of loyalty, churn, LTV) while ensuring all work aligns with established IT compliance and security frameworks. Flexibility to overlap with EST time zones is required, as you’ll be collaborating with colleagues across global teams in Europe and the US.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential:

  • Python engineering skills (modular, testable code)
  • SQL for data extraction and transformation
  • Proven experience maintaining production data pipelines/warehouses
  • Familiarity with Linux CLI and DevOps practices (git, CI/CD, containerization a plus)
  • Ability to work independently and communicate with stakeholders at all levels

Desirable:

  • Experience with e-commerce data sources (NetSuite, Magento, Shopify, GA, etc.)
  • Spark / PySpark or other distributed compute (Java experience also relevant)
  • Exposure to ML/data engineering for ML workflows

Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain the existing global data warehouse and pipelines
  • Ensure reliability, scalability, and data quality across all environments
  • Optimize pipeline performance and modularity for long-term use
  • Refine and extend data models to meet operational and reporting needs
  • Work within IT compliance and data security frameworks (e.g. GDPR, retention, auditability)
  • Help with reporting, data analysis, and dashboard development when needed
  • Plan and implement updates to the tech stack as requirements evolve (e.g. distributed compute, orchestration, cloud services)
  • Collaborate effectively across time zones, with EST and GMT overlap.
