Job Overview The Data Engineer engages in data design, analysis and development, providing insights and identifying opportunities for improvement. Business and systems analysis, development and testing, combined with business risk assessments and data quality monitoring are also components of the role. The role is responsible for ensuring that the Business Reporting programs and processes are kept up-to-date, and that new and modified programs are delivered as needed. The Data Engineer is also responsible for designing and enhancing the Business Objects and Tableau Reports used in the Data warehouse environment. This provides the organization with a best practice analytical platform to make effective, fact based decisions. Data Engineer also plays a critical role in supporting the SAS application used for Data Analytics by Business. The Data Engineer will also be responsible for coaching and mentoring less experienced team members to build their capability. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with the Business to fully understand business requirements. Provide ETL solutions that support Business Information requirements in Informatica. Design and develop ETL processes using Informatica to ING’s standards. Analyze source systems to identify appropriate sources of data. Identify and resolve data quality issues. Identify opportunities to value-add to source system data. Estimate effort involved in work tasks. Implement and enhance automation processes. Key Capabilities/Experience Advanced knowledge of a modern data application. Experience creating data integration solutions. Strong knowledge in Informatica Power Center and related products. Experience in Logical and Physical Data Modelling, including dimensional, relational, and flat-file data structures. Fluent in Kimball or Inmon Datawarehouse modelling techniques. Fluent in SQL. Relational database experience (preferably MS SQL Server). Business Objects including universe design desirable. SAS Enterprise experience desirable. Experience with Visualization Tools like Qlik or Tableau. Experience in Agile and Waterfall methodology. Big Data experience desirable. Minimum Qualifications 3+ years experience in Data warehousing or related function. 2+ years experience as a Data Integration Expert. 1+ End to End BI Project Delivery experience. Financial services industry experience highly regarded. Agile in large organizations. Continuous Delivery / DevOps.
