JOB SUMMARY:

The Data Engineer designs, evaluates, and tests data infrastructures to accurately collect and transform raw data into useful systems that support the business needs and strategic goals of Lincoln Energy, Lincoln Terminal, and Team Logistics.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Associate degree in computer science/information technology. Will consider experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a data engineer or in a similar role.
  • Technical expertise in data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Java and Python).
  • Hands-on experience with SQL database design and SQL server.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with users both onsite and remotely.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Practical experience working on cloud-based platforms.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science/information technology. Will consider experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Five years’ experience as a data engineer.
  • Direct experience with Board or other BI tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Largely stationary role in a clerical office setting.
  • Occasionally communicates with all levels of employees. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works to integrate and consolidate data from different sources to create easily accessible, accurate, and secure reporting that can be used to drive strategic business goals.
  • Combines raw information from different sources and organizes data warehouses to ensure efficient and secure data storage and retrieval.
  • Builds data systems and pipelines.
  • Evaluates business needs and objectives.
  • Prepares data for prescriptive and predictive modeling.
  • Builds algorithms and prototypes.
  • Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability.
  • Identifies opportunities for data acquisition.
  • Develops analytical tools and programs.
  • Collaborates with leadership, finance, and accounting departments to understand data requirements and design scalable solutions.
  • Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.
