As a Data Engineer (m/f/d), you will develop and operate the data infrastructure upon which our reports, analyses, and data-driven business processes are built. You will ensure that data from various sources is available reliably, securely, and in high quality wherever it is needed.

You will work in the current on-premises Microsoft environment (MSSQL, Integration Services, Analysis Services, Reporting Services, and Power BI), and in the future, on modern data solutions in the Microsoft Azure environment, overseeing data from connection and processing to provision in the data warehouse or lakehouse.

You can expect a responsible position at the intersection of technology, data, and specialist departments, as well as a diverse range of tasks with room for initiative and technical development. You will have the opportunity to actively shape modern data solutions in the Microsoft on-premises and Azure environments and will have the chance to sustainably improve data quality, transparency, and efficiency within the company.

THESE ARE YOUR TASKS

- You design, develop, and operate scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines

- You connect structured and unstructured data sources as well as APIs

- You model, transform, and prepare data for reporting, BI, and analytics

- You design databases for custom applications and thus help ensure the performance of these applications

- You further develop database, data warehouse, and lakehouse structures

- You automate data processing and provisioning processes

- You establish checks for data quality, completeness, timeliness, and consistency

- You analyze errors in data pipelines and ensure stable operation

- You consider data protection, authorization concepts, security, and data governance requirements

- You document data flows, interfaces, data models, and operational processes in a traceable manner

- You work closely with BI, Analytics, IT, and the business units

THIS IS YOUR PROFILE

- Several years of professional experience in data engineering or a comparable data-oriented IT role

- Excellent knowledge of SQL and Python

- Experience in developing and operating ETL/ELT pipelines

- Good knowledge of data modeling and the structure of databases, data warehouses, or lakehouses

- Understanding of data quality, data governance, data lifecycles, and access control

- Experience with version control, automated deployments, and basic CI/CD principles

- Ability to document and communicate technical concepts clearly

- A structured, solution-oriented, and independent work style

- Excellent written and spoken German skills (at least B2 level); English skills are an advantage.
