Responsibilities

YOUR FUTURE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will take ownership of designing, building, and optimising scalable data solutions using MS Fabric and wider MS Azure tooling. You will shape data architectures, integrate data from multiple sources, and create solutions that make information accessible, reliable, and actionable for business users.
Working closely with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders, you will translate requirements into powerful data platforms, while championing governance, security, and performance optimisation. You will also mentor colleagues, contribute to innovation initiatives, and continuously explore new technologies to enhance the value of CGI’s data services.
Key responsibilities:
Design & Build: Develop scalable ETL pipelines, data warehouses, data lakes, and Lakehouse solutions.
Architect & Model: Create secure, cost-efficient data architectures and relational/non-relational data models.
Enable Insights: Prepare curated data for analytics and visualisation in tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
Govern & Secure: Implement data governance practices, quality controls, and compliance with standards.
Collaborate & Mentor: Partner with business units and mentor junior engineers to build a strong data culture.
Innovate & Optimise: Continuously improve workflows, evaluate emerging tools, and drive adoption of best practices.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

To succeed, you should bring strong technical expertise in modern data engineering and MS Fabric, coupled with cloud data platform experience and excellent communication skills. You’ll thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where innovation and ownership are valued.
Essential qualifications:
Strong hands-on experience in data engineering with expertise in MS Fabric and MS Azure tooling.
Proven experience designing and implementing scalable ETL pipelines and data architectures.
Proficiency in SQL and a scripting language such as Python.
Experience with modern data warehouses, data modelling, and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Strong knowledge of data governance, quality frameworks, and security best practices.
Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Problem-solving mindset and ability to work with complex datasets.
Preferred qualifications:
Exposure to other data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica, or Talend.
Experience with big data and ML tools.
Certifications in Azure Data Engineer or similar.
Familiarity with data privacy regulations such as GDPR.
