Description

DAY TO DAY YOU WILL:

  • Create flexible, scalable, and efficient data models that cater to diverse analytical and processing requirements.
  • Write efficient queries, structure datasets for analytics, and troubleshoot performance issues in production environments.
  • Design systems that scale and adapt to schema drift, late-arriving data, or inconsistent input format.
  • Create self-service capabilities for business users while maintaining enterprise-grade security and governance standards.
  • Establish standards and automated processes to ensure data maintains accuracy, completeness, and consistency throughout its lifecycle.
  • Implement multi-layered security measures including encryption, access controls, and continuous monitoring to protect sensitive data.
  • Apply infrastructure as code principles and tools like Terraform to manage cloud resources programmatically, ensuring reproducible deployments and consistent environments.
  • Apply window functions, common table expressions, and query optimization techniques to improve performance.
  • Design storage and compute strategies that balance cost, performance, and compliance, integrating cloud-native data solutions with legacy systems.
Responsibilities

2025 is an exciting year to join the Drive team, a business wholly owned by Australia’s largest media organisation, Nine Entertainment with extensive reach across all media channels. The Data Engineer role sits at the heart of our data operations, designing systems that scale, protect data quality, and support teams with data, reporting and insights. This is a hands-on role where you will play both architect and operator, designing systems that can handle diverse data types while ensuring reliability and performance at scale. You will work collaboratively with Technology squads, ETL Engineers, and the Head of Infrastructure.
