SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

• Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in building and deploying production-grade applications.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and data modelling concepts.
• Strong SQL skills utilising DDL and DML, as well as adhoc data-analysis.
• Experience with distributed data processing frameworks (e.g. Apache Spark).
• Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, able to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Open to exploring new approaches and embracing the challenges of a start-up environment.
• Detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality work.
• Experience with streaming applications (e.g. Kinesis/Kafka/Flink).
• Relevant industry experience.
• Willingness and desire to learn and grow.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Proven experience in Data Engineering with a focus on cloud-based data platforms (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong data engineering / programming experience on shipped data projects.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.

BONUS SKILLS:

• Knowledge of additional programming languages and frameworks.
• Experience working in a product focussed team.
• Experience with data quality and data monitoring frameworks.
• Experience performing data analysis and debugging SQL queries.
• Knowledge of Data Visualization software (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, D3 etc)
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and software engineering principles.
• Understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
• Start-up experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, build and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines and storage solutions on Databricks, AWS using S3, other relevant technologies.
• Work with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data engineering needs and develop solutions that meet business requirements.
• Optimize data delivery and processing, ensuring data quality and consistency across multiple sources.
• Develop and maintain data models and schema designs that support data warehousing, analytics and reporting.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to enable data-driven decision making, providing support and guidance on data engineering best practices.
• Implement and maintain data security protocols, ensuring data privacy and compliance with regulatory standards
• Implement serverless architecture utilising AWS services like API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3.
• Collaborate effectively with other team members and stakeholders.
