Description

The role

We are looking for a hands-on data engineer to integrate data from our global partners into our platform. Data integration is the core of the role, and agentic AI tooling is part of how we do it. This is an on-site position in our Heidelberg office.

You will work closely with medical, engineering and commercialization colleagues in a small, pragmatic team with short decision paths and direct access to the founders.

What you'll do

  • Onboard new data partners, from first assessment of their data through to reliable production ingestion
  • Map partner data to our internal data model and work with providers to close gaps
  • Build and maintain robust, well-tested data pipelines
  • Ensure high standards in data quality and help evolve our database and data infrastructure
  • Document data and transformations so that every step is transparent and traceable
  • Ensure data is handled securely, de-identified and in line with healthcare data regulations
  • Help us apply AI-assisted methods to data integration, with appropriate quality checks

What you bring

  • Several years of hands-on data engineering, including building and running production data pipelines
  • Strong SQL and relational database design skills
  • R and Python skills on Linux systems
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as HL7 FHIR and common clinical coding systems
  • Understanding of data privacy and security in a regulated environment, including GDPR
  • Day-to-day use of AI-assisted development tools and curiosity to go further with them
  • A pragmatic mindset: you choose the simplest solution that works
  • Ability to turn messy, real-world data into clear findings and next steps
  • Good communication with technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Independent, hands-on working style with agile mindset
  • Fluent English, our primary working language

Nice-to-have skills

  • Experience with genomics/clinical & pathology data/digital histopathology data
  • Experience with graph databases or ontologies
  • Experience with containers, CI/CD and cloud infrastructure on hyperscalers.
