The Role

As we build a modern data capability, we now have the opportunity for a Data Engineer to join our Technology and Innovation Team on a permanent full-time basis. Based at our CBD Head Office, this is a hands-on SQL role, responsible for:

• Building automated data pipelines across operational systems
• Creating reliable SQL Server and PostgreSQL warehouse foundations
• Improving data platform performance, quality, monitoring and recoverability.
• Reducing manual data extracts and reporting rework

What You will Need

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate: 

• Expert SQL capability, particularly T-SQL and PostgreSQL
• Strong experience with query optimisation, indexing and execution plan analysis
• Proven ability to build ETL/ELT pipelines and warehouse structures
• Troubleshoot skills with the ability to identify and resolve data quality and integration issues end to end
• Effective communication skills, with confidence partnering across business Leaders and technical teams
• Experience in mining, industrial services, construction, maintenance or asset intensive environment is highly desirable
• CDP, APIs, Azure Data Factory, dbt, airflow or Python is an advantage
• Exposure to SSRS, Tableau or Apache SuperSet without being a visualisation specialist will be highly valued
