COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Warp is a leading independent record company releasing music by ground-breaking and influential artists, including Aphex Twin, Danny Brown, Kelela, Squid, Boards of Canada, Yves Tumor, Nala Sinephro, Stereolab, and many more across our family of labels–including Warp Records, LuckyMe, and On-U Sound as well as others. With offices in London, New York, Los Angeles, and Sheffield, we’re a global team looking for people who share our passion for these artists and who think a little bit differently.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for a talented mid-level Data Engineer to own the data engineering and technology function at Warp. So, if you have a few years experience building with modern data tools: dbt, airflow, and cloud platforms, we’d love to hear from you.
The role includes day-to-day ownership of strategy, technical development, maintenance of the data stack and building pipelines. As well as management of IT and systems strategy, alongside external IT team.
This is an important role within the company, supporting the business by empowering data-driven decision-making, ensuring robust systems management, and improving workflows and efficiencies. This role reports to the Head of Operations and requires the ability to work independently to prioritise work, devise solutions, and perform technical development with minimal oversight.
The ideal candidate combines excellent data engineering skills as a primary focus, alongside an ability to work more broadly across the entire business to oversee the company’s wider technical systems and IT approach.
You’ll work closely with one analytics engineer, who works on the data transformation and reporting layers. Broadly, designing end-to-end data solutions, interact with key stakeholders (including management level), and manage technical relationships with external partners, including Warp’s third-party IT support provider.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3 years of data engineering experience using the following tools and technologies:
  • dbt
  • Airflow

HIGHLY ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • GCP specific compute knowledge: cloud functions, VMs, etc
  • Linux: shell & bash scripting
  • Full-stack web application (React, Typescript, Vercel, )
  • Expertise in music data, including metadata models, music finances and royalties, streaming analytics, and rights management
  • Experience working with or overseeing IT, systems management, security, and/or web hosting administration
  • Experience managing or overseeing systems and technical development roadmaps
  • Experience upwards managing and working with senior members of the company
  • Data analyst skillset, including data visualisation and BI tools (Tableau preferred), building data sets, reports, and dashboards
