The WHS Data team is hiring a Data Engineer (DE). The Data team spans the Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Engineering (DE) functional areas, and is responsible for providing all reporting solutions required by the WHS Organization to drive workplace safety and regulatory compliance worldwide. This role drives the design and implementation of data solutions within the Workplace Health and Safety domain, leveraging advanced AWS technologies and big data platforms to deliver scalable data architecture components. The position focuses on solving complex data warehousing challenges through automated ETL processes, optimized model deployments, and robust analytics tools that enable self-service capabilities. Working directly with stakeholders and technical partners, this role translates business requirements into actionable solutions while maintaining high standards of data governance and system performance. The role also champions innovation by evaluating emerging technologies, implementing best practices, and continuously enhancing the data infrastructure to meet evolving business needs. Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree - 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role - Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines - Experience in SQL - Industry experience in Data Engineering, BI Engineer, or related field - Track record of data management fundamentals and data storage principles - Hands-on experience and advanced knowledge of SQL and Python(or any scripting languages) - Demonstrated strength in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing - Knowledge of distributed systems and Cloud technologies as it pertains to data storage and computing Preferred Qualifications: - 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, BI Engineer, or Systems Analyst in a company with large, complex data sources - Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets - Experience working with AWS big data technologies (EMR, Redshift, S3, Glue, Kinesis and Lambda) - Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations - Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy - Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market.
