Salary: £75,000 - £80,000 DOE
Hours: Full time
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Dundee or Edinburgh office.
About this opportunity:
A phenomenal opportunity has arisen for a skilled Cloud and Legacy Data Engineer to join the Insurance, Pensions and Investments (IP&I) Data & Analytics Office which is pushing the boundaries of technology.
You’ll have a vital role in modernizing and optimizing our data infrastructure. If you’re passionate about innovative technologies and have a curiosity about redefining legacy systems into efficient, scalable solutions, we want you on our team!
You’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data solutions that bridge the gap between traditional and cloud-based systems. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring detailed data migration, integration, and overall performance improvement.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Architect and implement data solutions on Azure/Microsoft SQL Server as well as cloud platforms on GCP
  • Coordinate and support our engineers to grow and deliver at pace. Collaborate with multi-functional teams to assess and modernize legacy data systems
  • Develop ETL/ELT processes for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading
  • Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance with industry standards
  • Optimize and fix data workflows to improve performance
  • Provide technical expertise in data-related projects and initiatives

What you’ll need:

  • Proven track record delivering Microsoft Azure ETL solutions with confirmed experience in cloud-based data engineering in GCP.
  • Familiarity with prioritising feature work, a strong desire to build and support diligent teams with experience working in a fast-paced agile environment.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, Java, etc.) for data engineering tasks
  • Strong SQL skills and expertise in database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) with familiarity with data warehousing concepts and tools
  • To be a great teammate, happy to connect with colleagues and partners throughout the business and support where required.
