POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Front Desk / Data Entry Clerk will provide customer service, administrative, and technical support at the M&FRC Discovery Resource Center (DRC) and reception area. This position serves as the first point of contact for customers, conducting intake assessments, providing information and referral services, assisting with computer resources, and maintaining accurate data records in support of military members, their families, retirees, and other authorized patrons. The role requires initiative, discretion, and customer-focused professionalism.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Minimum of 12 credit hours in social sciences/social work OR equivalent work experience in a relevant field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and operation of Dell-compatible PCs.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of military protocols, support group organizations, and family systems in a military setting.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written English skills with ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) for CAC card and LAN access.
  • Other Requirements:
  • Physical mobility for light lifting and occasional floor-level inspections.
  • Professional dress and grooming in accordance with workplace standards.
  • Attendance and punctuality meeting commercial standards.

EXPERIENCE:

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Prior customer service and administrative experience in a high-volume office or service environment, preferably in a military, government, or community service setting.
  • Experience operating a front desk or reception area, including greeting clients, scheduling appointments, and managing visitor logs.
  • Hands-on experience with data entry and records management systems, preferably AFFIRST, DMDC/DoDTAP, or similar tracking databases.
  • Familiarity with information and referral (I&R) services and ability to connect clients to appropriate resources.
  • Practical experience assisting clients with computer-based tasks, such as resume preparation, online applications, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Experience in program or workshop support, including roster management, materials preparation, and statistical reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Privacy Act and applicable regulations.
