Responsibilities

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Data Governance Officer to strengthen our team. You will play an important role in establishing strong data governance practices that empower business users, enable trustworthy analytics, and align with our broader data strategy.
Working closely with Data Stewards, Data Owners, and project teams, you’ll ensure that data changes are properly managed, aligned with governance standards, and embedded sustainably into operations.
You will be responsible for setting and evolving data policies, defining key business terms, and promoting ownership and accountability. Your efforts will empower teams to trust and use data confidently in decision-making. Through training, monitoring, and continuous improvement, you will foster a culture where data is respected, understood, and leveraged responsibly, contributing directly to FMO’s operational efficiency and development impact.

Your key activities will include:

  • Manage Data Governance Organization: Oversee the data governance organization, including the roles of data owners and data stewards, ensuring clear accountability and responsibilities for data management
  • Business Glossary Management: Manage the process of identifying and defining critical business elements in our business glossary, ensuring consistent and accurate metadata and definitions
  • Policy Development: Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures enabling adherence throughout the organization
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor regulations related to data management and assess their applicability to FMO, ensuring compliance with relevant data governance standards
  • Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions and workshops to promote data governance awareness and best practices among employees
  • Reporting and Metrics: Report on data management metrics to track the effectiveness of the data governance program and identify areas for improvement
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders to understand their data needs and ensure data governance initiatives support business goals
