  • ASIC is seeking a full-time Data Governance Policy Specialist to join their Data Governance Team
  • Permanent position based in Sydney or Melbourne
  • Salary starting from $118,925 (plus 15.4% superannuation) depending on experience

    The team
    The Data Governance team is responsible developing and implementing ASIC’s data strategy. The team works collaboratively with business and technical stakeholders to develop data policies, principles and standards to optimise the capture, share, and use of data in ASIC. The team oversees a data governance program to protect ASIC’s data assets and manage risk.

The role

  • Provide secretariat for ASIC’s Common Language Panel; the committee that oversees the common language framework, including development and approval of items for the common language taxonomy at ASIC.
  • Provide secretariat for ASIC’s Data Governance Council, including co-ordination and compilation of reports and papers for the Data Governance Council meetings.
  • Contribute significantly to the ongoing development and implementation of associated standards, policies and processes to ensure the teams working with data across the organisation comply with and contribute to ASIC’s data governance framework and strategy.
  • Develop and implement systems, methods and measure for monitoring of compliance with policies, standards, procedures, Data Governance agreements and MOUs, and risk management frameworks.
  • Contribute to cataloguing ASIC’s data assets, policies and standards
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define and maintain the Common Language Vocabulary and Taxonomy in Collibra, ensuring consistency and standardisation of code list, code sets and code values.
  • Manage data risks in collaboration with the Risk Champion and Head of Data Governance
  • Manage and conduct control testing of risks and prepare report for the Risk Committee.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of project including planning, research, monitoring and analysis activities.
  • Provide administrative support to key projects including arranging meetings, taking minutes, co-ordinating action items, preparing agendas and general support.
  • Conduct desktop research to support Data Governance activities.
  • Contribute to the development of communications and educational materials.
  • Assist with Data Ethics discussion and manage associated reporting and assurance processes.
  • Assist with procurement activities as required.

About you

  • Planning and organising skills combined with attention to detail and an ability to manage concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
  • Well-developed problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency across a variety of software applications including Microsoft products.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a field such as IT, Information Management, Statistics, Economics, Law or similar discipline involving management and governance of data.
  • Experience in the development and application of policy and data governance practices and methods, and understanding of data management frameworks such as DAMA, DMBOK, DATA2.0.
  • Experience working with complex data and embedding data strategy.
