Data Governance Specialist
Data Governance Specialist will work to mature and implement the data governance policies across the office. This is a business facing role focused on the identification of, and development of solutions for, data quality and privacy issues. Understanding of business process flows and how data integrates with business processes is key. Other duties will include assisting in the improvement of processes, streamlining data systems, and driving innovation. To carry out these goals, the Data Governance Specialist will have appropriate access to systems. This position does not have any direct reports.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

The following is a list of preferred qualifications and skills and should not be considered all-inclusive. The successful candidate will have a combination of education and experience focused on data management, and business process improvement. A background in and an understanding of both technology and business processes is advantageous.

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or business preferred
  • Experience in data quality, governance, and privacy processes is preferred
  • Resourceful self-starter and highly motivated team player
  • Ability to tactfully deal with wide variety of stakeholders to resolve problems
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Analytical and strategic mindset

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $30.00 - $37.00 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the continued implementation, improvement, and management of the data governance strategy for the office.
  • Coordinate data clean-up activities and outline protocols, processes, and oversee audits to prevent future data issues.
  • Facilitate the move to a data-driven culture by training or assisting in the development of training for staff on the use and protection of data.
  • Devise processes that organize, and streamline data systems, and drive innovation.

· Serve on the Data Security Team to:
1. Monitor the implementation of data privacy policies, standards, and procedures and provide analysis of staff compliance with applicable privacy laws, regulations, and expectations.
2. Develop or identify privacy training programs for agency employees, contractors, and partners.

  1. Complete and report on agency privacy audits and assessments to ensure that privacy risks are effectively managed.
  • Provide cost-benefit and other data analysis to guide strategic planning and aid in budget preparation.
  • Optimize the digital experience for team collaboration and internal communications.
  • Complete ad hoc data analysis projects as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
