About the area
The National Imaging Facility WA Node (WA NIF) is based at the Centre for Microscopy, Characterisation and Analysis (CMCA) at The University of Western Australia. WA NIF is part of a national collaborative imaging network funded under the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). It provides advanced imaging infrastructure and expertise to support clinical trials and medical research. The WA NIF Node is located at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research on the QEII medical campus.

About the opportunity

  • Lead the development and management of WA NIF’s computing infrastructure, including a human imaging trials database integrated with MRI and PET-CT systems.
  • Develop data processing pipelines and quality assurance systems to support reproducible, large-scale medical research and clinical trials.
  • Collaborate nationally to contribute to the NIF Data program and support the Australian Imaging Service team in consistent pipeline deployment.

    About you

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant area (e.g., Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering) or equivalent competency.

  • Substantial and extensive relevant computing experience working with high-performance and cloud computing environments at an appropriate level.
  • Experience in the handling and analysis of medical imaging data (including spatial registration, manipulation, feature (radiomics) extraction, application of deep learning approaches to analysis) is desirable.
  • Experience with analysis of PET/CT and/or MRI imaging is desirable.
  • Experience with the XNAT system or similar repositories including linking data to analyses on high-performance computing platforms is desirable.
