Description

The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (“MSO”) is seeking a qualified professional for the position of Data Integration Specialist/Research Analyst (“Specialist/Analyst”) to work in the Administrative Office of the MSO located in Woburn, MA. The Specialist/Analyst will support the MSO with their data analytic needs by working with individual departments and administration to coordinate, streamline, and visualize an array of data being gathered at the MSO. The Specialist/Analyst will be responsible for gathering, linking, and cleaning data that will be used for reporting requirements. The hours of work will be 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. Monday through Friday and subject to change based on the discretion of management. This is an exempt, full time, at-will employment position that reports to the Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) or their designee.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, Business/Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Data Analysis, Statistics, or a closely related field is preferred;
  • Proven ability to gather, synthesize, and present current research and trends in criminal justice, healthcare, and social science;
  • Mandatory proficiencies should include: Microsoft Word, Excel;
  • Preferred proficiencies should include: SQL query, Crystal Reports, R, and Tableau;
  • Proven knowledge of industry research methodologies and techniques;
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills and working proactively to help anticipate the needs of the department is preferred;
  • Strong written communication skills, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills;
  • Ability to complete multiple projects in a timely and accurate manner while maintaining comprehensive and cohesive records

Responsibilities
  • Collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting quantitative and qualitative data from disparate systems, including data warehouse, medical records, and other data repositories
  • Working with internal departments to ensure accurate data collection
  • Working with MSO staff to ensure statistical concepts and data analytics are explained efficiently and accurately
  • Analyze data obtained in context, looking for patterns and forecasting trends to help make recommendations for funding and policy changes
  • Building and managing ETL processes for internal departments
  • Designing reporting schemas that advance the MSO’s reporting needs
  • Working with external researchers, including research institutions, to coordinate data sharing efforts
  • Preparing materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations and preparing materials for required federal or state reporting
  • Working closely with Senior Data Analysts to build data integrations that quickly and effectively solve reporting needs
  • Working with the Director of Fiscal Operations and Chief Financial Officer on grant funded projects, reporting requirements, and other budget-related initiatives
  • Assisting the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Fiscal Operations on any day-to-day operations within the fiscal department, as needed
  • Other work duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
    The individual selected for the position of Specialist/Analyst must have the ability to exercise good judgement and focus on detail as required by the job. The individual selected shall also be cognizant of the confidential and sensitive nature of working in a law enforcement agency and must comply with all institutional rules regarding safety and security.
