Data Literacy Lead
The Data Literacy Lead is responsible for championing a data-driven culture by developing and implementing training programs focused on enhancing data literacy across all departments. This role involves the strategic design of curriculum, creation of engaging educational materials, and facilitation of training sessions, ensuring that all team members are equipped with the knowledge and skills to effectively utilize data in their decision-making processes. This will include standardization of analytics tools to ensure the literacy program covers the enterprise’s technical landscape. The lead will continuously assess the effectiveness of the program, adapting to changing needs and technologies to maintain an organization-wide data literacy initiative.
This role offers a hybrid schedule reporting into the Arden Hills, MN headquarters. You will work in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
All workweeks will not look the same, and your manager will help you find the right balance.
Curriculum Development, Training, and Communities of Practice
Conduct needs assessments to identify data literacy gaps and learning objectives across different departments, ensuring the curriculum is tailored to meet the specific requirements of each group.
Develop a comprehensive curriculum that covers essential data concepts, tool-specific training (Snowflake, Power BI, Databricks, Alation), and best practices in data usage, ensuring a balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application in collaboration with product teams and guilds.
In collaboration with product and business teams, produce engaging and informative training materials, including interactive modules, videos, guides, and real-world case studies.
Collaborate with business teams and product teams to co-facilitate training sessions, workshops, and seminars, utilizing a variety of instructional techniques to cater to different learning styles and maximize participant engagement and knowledge retention.
Implement evaluation mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of the training programs, gather feedback, and make data-driven improvements to the curriculum and training delivery methods.
Work closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to continuously refine and update the curriculum, ensuring it aligns with evolving business goals, data strategies, and technological advancements.
Work with communities of practice to foster a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and continuous learning.
Technology Standards and Tool Management
Ensure familiarity and proficiency with key analytics technologies used within the organization.
Identify gaps in technology landscape for analytics and data discovery tools.
Provide guidance and support on the use of analytics tools, specifically standards for Power BI and Databricks
Liaise with platform, product, and business teams to understand and align standards for the technology and infrastructure, specifically Power BI and Databricks
Value Measurement and Continuous Improvement
Partner with senior business leaders to develop OKR’s (Objectives and Key Results) to measure the effectiveness of the data literacy program.
Partner with senior business leaders to enhance OKR’s over time as data and analytics maturity grows
Collect and analyze feedback from training participants and stakeholders.
Make data-driven decisions to improve the curriculum and training methods.
Report on progress to senior business and functional management and adjust strategies as needed.
Communication and Advocacy
Act as a champion for data literacy within the organization.
Communicate the value and impact of data literacy to stakeholders at all levels.
Foster communities of practice for data enthusiasts and practitioners.
Share success stories, best practices, and learnings across the organization.
Required Experience:
At least one year participating in or leading analytics communities of practice.
5+ years of experience as an analytics practitioner
One or more years of experience working in an agile development environment.
Required Skills:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex data concepts to a non-technical audience.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders, understand their learning needs, and tailor programs accordingly.
Leverages the desired outcome (the why) to inspire the appropriate output (the how).
Capacity to adapt to changing technologies and business needs, and to bring innovative approaches to data literacy training and education.
Working knowledge of data management best practices
Preferred Experience/Education:
Experience in designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive educational or training programs, preferably with a focus on data literacy, data management, or a related field.
Proven leadership experience, particularly in managing cross-functional teams and projects related to education, training, or organizational development
