MBL Technologies is seeking an experienced Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Subject-Matter Expert (SME) / Technical Lead to support a federal government client. The ideal candidate will provide strategic and technical leadership in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise DLP solutions to ensure protection of sensitive data across networks, endpoints, and cloud environments. This role is mostly remote; however, it will require occasional onsite meetings in the Bethesda, MD area. With no travel reimbursements allocated. This role is contingent based on contract award. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the technical lead and subject-matter expert for all Data Loss Prevention (DLP) initiatives across the enterprise. Design, implement, and maintain DLP policies, incident workflows, and governance processes to prevent unauthorized data exposure or exfiltration. Conduct risk assessments, policy tuning, and incident triage to improve detection accuracy and reduce false positives. Operate and optimize DLP tools for data in motion, data at rest, and data in use to ensure effective coverage across all communication channels and storage locations. Protect sensitive data and secure transmission avenues such as Microsoft 365, email, web gateways, and cloud applications. Collaborate with cross-functional cybersecurity, compliance, and IT teams to develop and maintain enterprise-wide data protection standards. Integrate DLP systems with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms (e.g., Splunk) for enhanced visibility and correlation of security events. Lead DLP-related projects, providing technical oversight, documentation, and training to internal stakeholders and federal client teams. Support continuous improvement of DLP processes and contribute to the agency’s broader information security strategy. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (advanced degree preferred). Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity or information security. Minimum of 3 years of direct experience with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tools and technologies. Demonstrated expertise operating DLP solutions for data in motion, at rest, and in use. Experience leading or serving as the technical point of contact for enterprise-scale DLP implementations. Prior experience in large environments (10,000+ endpoints/users), preferably supporting 50,000+ clients. Proven ability to integrate DLP solutions with SIEM platforms such as Splunk. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data protection requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Preferred Skills & Qualifications: Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CCSP, or equivalent. Experience supporting federal government or DoD clients. Familiarity with data privacy and regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA, HIPAA). Experience with cloud-native DLP tools or Microsoft Purview Information Protection solutions.
