• Shape and maintain Rio Tinto’s enterprise Data Governance Framework, clarifying roles, responsibilities, and escalation paths
• Support oversight functions through defensibility models, metrics, and reporting
• Represent data governance in internal governance forums and working groups

DATA GOVERNANCE LEAD - COMPLIANCE PROGRAMME ROLE

• Lead enterprise data governance initiatives within Rio Tinto’s Compliance Programme
• Permanent role reporting to the GM, Data Governance and Privacy
• Based in Singapore, Brisbane, Melbourne or Perth with flexible work arrangements
• Design and embed practical data governance and management controls across a complex, global business

ABOUT THE ROLE

Data is a compliance-critical component of Rio Tinto’s enterprise risk profile. As part of our broader Ethics & Compliance function, the Data Governance & Privacy team is responsible for embedding real-world, risk-informed data governance into the systems, processes, and decisions that power our business.
We are looking for an experienced Data Governance Lead to drive the implementation of Rio Tinto’s Data Governance Strategy and Delivery Plan. This is a strategic delivery role, focused on building and embedding a fit-for-purpose data governance capability that supports Rio Tinto’s Compliance Programme across risk assessment, defensibility, lifecycle management, and proportionate procedures.
This role reports into the GM, Data Governance and Privacy, and operates within the Ethics & Compliance function with close relationships to be developed with IS&T, Cyber, and business stakeholders.
