POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Data Manager specializing in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tooling and data governance to support the NASA Orion Mission. In this role, you will oversee the configuration, integrity, and accessibility of mission-critical engineering and program data across Orion’s Ground and Flight Systems. You will collaborate with engineering, business, and IT stakeholders to optimize PLM tools and workflows, ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and accessibility for a highly visible, mission-driven program.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of professional experience (or 8+ years with a Master’s), with a strong focus on data management, PLM systems, or enterprise data governance.
  • Expertise with PLM tools (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of product data structures, configuration management, and system integration.
  • Proven ability to design and implement workflows, business rules, and process automation in PLM environments.
  • Experience supporting complex engineering or aerospace programs with mission-critical data requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Familiarity with NASA programs, spaceflight systems, or aerospace engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes, configuration/data management standards, and digital thread concepts.
  • Experience with reporting and analytics tools for data visualization.
  • Exposure to Agile/DevOps methodologies in a data or tooling context.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $60,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Lead the configuration, administration, and optimization of PLM tools used to manage Orion engineering and program data.
  • Develop and enforce data governance standards, workflows, and best practices to ensure consistency, traceability, and compliance with NASA and program requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering, supply chain, and business teams to translate program needs into PLM system capabilities.
  • Support data migration, integration, and reporting across multiple systems of record, ensuring interoperability and accessibility.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and provide guidance on data usage, security, and lifecycle management.
  • Define and manage data access policies, permissions, and audit compliance for sensitive engineering information.
  • Act as a liaison between technical users and business leadership, communicating requirements and proposing improvements to data systems.
  • Provide training and support to Orion program users on PLM tooling, data standards, and system functionality.
  • Deliver dashboards, metrics, and reports to support program leadership in decision-making.
