You should bring:

  • Knowledge of global privacy laws and frameworks (e.g. Australia, EU/UK, Canada, Singapore, China, Mongolia, US)
  • Experience operating within a compliance, governance, or operational risk environment
  • Excellent stakeholder skills, with the ability to explain privacy concepts in a business-friendly way
  • Structured, reliable, and independent working style, with strong attention to detail
  • Confidence working across time zones and managing tasks through to completion
  • Legal qualifications are not required, but familiarity with privacy law principles and global compliance standards is essential

DATA PRIVACY LEAD – COMPLIANCE PROGRAMME ROLE

  • Support enterprise privacy compliance across a complex, international business
  • Permanent role reporting into the GM, Data Governance and Privacy
  • Based in Singapore, Brisbane, Melbourne or Perth with flexible work arrangements

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role sits within Rio Tinto’s Data Governance and Privacy team, a core function of the Ethics & Compliance group. We are accountable for implementing Rio Tinto’s privacy obligations as part of the enterprise-wide Compliance Programme, with a focus on accountability, defensibility and risk-informed decision making.
The Data Privacy Lead supports the day-to-day operation of the privacy program across Rio Tinto, contributing to all six pillars of the Compliance Framework:
