The Data and Reporting Analyst position exists to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and usability, helping tell a clear story that drives our work in providing safe, affordable housing. This role offers the opportunity to work with business staff to collaboratively understand their needs – translating questions into data queries and providing information and insights to make smart decisions. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated and collaborative professional who is just as comfortable writing a complex SQL query as they are teaching business staff on data practices.

  • Three (3) years of professional experience in data analysis, data stewardship, or data reporting. This experience must include:
  • Writing and modifying SQL queries to extract and audit data from relational databases.
  • Participating in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes or managing data across multiple systems.

A bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field may substitute for up to 18 months of this experience if the candidate has directly performed professional-level data stewardship work.

  • Experience working with data governance or data management standards, including:
  • Cleaning and standardizing data.
  • Ensuring accuracy and consistency across datasets from multiple sources.
  • Experience designing or building reports or dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms, including:
  • Creating visualizations for non-technical audiences.
  • Writing SQL-based reports or automating reporting workflows.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Creating and maintaining complex workbooks with dynamic formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, and VBA scripting
  • Developing tools and templates that automate data extraction and aggregation processes from multiple file types and systems.
  • Experience supporting data quality efforts, such as:
  • Developing data validation rules or protocols.
  • Documenting data definitions and business rules.
  • Collaborating with others to perform regular data reviews.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to:
  • Identify and troubleshoot data quality issues.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, including:
  • Translating business needs into clear technical requirements.
  • Explaining technical data concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Providing training or guidance to staff on data-related topics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Direct leadership in coordinating periodic data quality review cycles, including designing data quality frameworks, developing documentation and operational tools for data stewards, and facilitating structured, cross-departmental data clean-up initiatives.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL, with a track record of designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting highly complex queries across large, multi-relational datasets, including writing stored procedures, automating data pipelines, and managing performance tuning for reporting environments.
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and maintain comprehensive data architecture documentation, including data flow diagrams, system integration mappings, data lineage tracking, and metadata repositories, to support enterprise data governance and transparency.
  • Hands-on experience leveraging enterprise content management (ECM) systems to execute structured document processing workflows, metadata management, and enterprise data governance initiatives, ensuring content compliance and alignment with organizational data policies.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and commitment to equity, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals and communities from diverse backgrounds, integrate cultural considerations into data practices, and ensure data processes support equitable outcomes in program delivery and decision-making.
