JOB SUMMARY/BASIC FUNCTION:

Provides essential support for Albertsons Library’s data needs while contributing to the university’s broader goals for data-informed decision-making. Develops and delivers library- and university-level analysis and reports, including responding to special requests from administrators. Ensures the ethical collection, use, and governance of data by identifying potential risks and implementing best practices that promote privacy, fairness, and transparency. Collaborates with campus partners including: the Provost’s Office Institutional Effectiveness, Office of Information Technology, and the Division of Research and Economic Development, to share data and uphold research information quality. Contributes to the development and maintenance of the university’s research information management system (RIMS). Supports the assessment and use analysis of the Library’s physical and electronic collections.
This is a temporary, benefit-eligible position with an anticipated duration of one year.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Employees in this position are expected to work regularly on campus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Good knowledge of fundamentals of reporting and analyses.
  • Ability to ensure validity, reliability, consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of all work completed
  • Ability to independently research problem areas
  • Understanding of applying analytical methods to business problems, driving improved decision making and outcomes
  • Experience developing data models and programming in languages, such as R or Python
  • Ability to stay highly organized under pressure
  • Communicates effectively in a professional context, both verbally and in writing.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent plus 2 years experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 year experience with data analysis or research assessment systems or projects.
  • 1 year experience working with programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Experience working with APIs and web services.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and related tools such as Matlab, Stata, SAS, or other similar programs.
  • Experience working with data visualization software such as PowerBI, Tableau, or other similar programs.
    Salary and Benefits:

Salary starts at $60,673.60 annually. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):

Responsibilities
  • Prepares deliverables for use in planning and reporting, using appropriate tools.
  • Communicates clearly and regularly, follows up on inquiries and requests.
  • Learns and adapts new technical/procedural knowledge/skills to keep up to date on professional skills and office needs.
  • Contributes to the development of analytical reports to answer business questions.
  • Conducts needs assessments and research.
  • Publishes standard and complex ad-hoc reports with varying detail for different audiences.
  • Develops and documents procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Works as needed, with functional area data stewards to align or improve processes
  • Engage in Data Quality, documentation, and process improvement.
  • Creates and maintains documentation.
  • Develop reports, visualizations, and other digital or interactive outputs focused on communicating library and university impact, research strengths, and emerging trends.
  • Provide functional and analytical support for research information management systems including but not limited to Pure, SciVal, and ORCID
  • Analyze data related to print and electronic collections to inform collection development, budgeting decisions, and space planning efforts.
  • Consult with library personnel and campus partners to support data-related and assessment projects
  • Utilize a variety of tools, such as APIs, to extract data from campus data sources
  • Clean and integrate data files into university data management systems and databases
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
