JOB DESCRIPTION

The Data Science and AI Director is responsible for executing the development and implementation of data science and AI solutions. Responsible for driving innovation and excellence in data science and artificial intelligence, conducting capability assessments, and defining actions to enhance effectiveness, while operating with minimal supervision. The Data and AI leader shapes the data science strategy to leverage emerging technologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

• Poses strong communication skills and interpersonal skills. Confident presenting to senior leadership stakeholders.
• Experience in using programming languages such as Python, R, JAVA, C/C++
• Experience in Databricks, Github, Pyspark and Sequel or comparable
• Proven experience in design and execution of exploratory data analyses and in generation of data insights
• Proven experience in design and implementation of data solutions based on LLM, ML, GenAI.

Education:

• Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, Econometrics, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years of experience with Bachelor’s OR Minimum 8 years of experience with Master’s in areas such as Data Handling, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI) or equivalent.
• Experience in evaluating existing and upcoming technologies w.r.t. required functionalities.
• Thorough understanding of the Azure stack and preferably AWS

• Directs the development and implementation of the data science and AI strategy, ensuring alignment existing and emerging technologies to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
• Oversees capability and maturity assessments of data science and AI initiatives, identifying measures and actions to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
• Ensures AI models are performant in terms of both time and space complexity, optimizing algorithms to generate accurate user recommendations, insights, and outputs aligned with business needs and objectives.
• Performs statistical analysis and fine-tuning of AI models using test results and validation techniques to validate assumptions, optimize model parameters, and enhance predictive accuracy, working under limited supervision.
• Facilitates data mining initiatives, including algorithm development, data collection, and preprocessing activities, throughout the design and build phases of AI projects, ensuring data quality and relevance.
• Leads and drives the deployment and testing of AI solutions and insights, overseeing implementation efforts, conducting testing procedures, and validating system functionality and performance.
• Serves as an expert in AI DevOps practices and technologies within the business, shaping methodologies and approaches to effectively manage, automate, and deploy AI models in development and production environments.
• Architects and designs MVP applications that encompass the entire lifecycle of AI model development, from initial prototyping to final deployment, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance optimization.
• Evaluates emerging and cutting-edge open-source data science and machine learning libraries, assessing their suitability and potential impact on AI initiatives and projects.
• Identifies data needs based on business strategy and defines acquisition plans, data management strategies, and governance frameworks to ensure the availability, quality, and integrity of data assets.
• Identifies key issues and patterns from potentially conflicting or incomplete data sources, leveraging theoretical knowledge and practical experience to devise innovative solutions and strategies.
• Serves as a technical coach and mentor within the team or domain, sharing knowledge, best practices, and expertise, and providing guidance, feedback, and support to team members to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement
• Evaluates emerging technologies, open-source libraries, and big data platforms, assessing their suitability and potential impact on AI initiatives, and recommending adoption strategies.
• Directs cross-functional projects and initiatives, acting as a line manager within own domain, shaping development practices, technologies, and strategies to drive business success and innovation.
• Execution project activities while adhering to quality, integrity, and support for informed decision-making.
• Addressing data quality issues and providing structural solutions to mitigate lack of data quality and improve data quality.
• Drives strategic projects and initiatives to address business needs, collaborating with stakeholders to define objectives, scope, and deliverables, and overseeing project execution to ensure successful outcomes and value creation

Education:
