JOB DESCRIPTION

The Data Scientist provides technical expertise in Advanced/Predictive/Prescriptive Analytics. Key responsibility is to help design, develop and scale Data Science projects. For this role, one should be highly analytical with a love and high affinity for analysis, math, and statistics. The Data Scientist is not only skillful in quantitative methodologies and programming (holding themselves to a high standard for coding best practices), but also has keen business acumen. One should have a passion for analysis, data exploration, machine-learning, and out of the box thinking. Utilization of related technical skills and methodologies and strive to remain abreast of leading-edge data science technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, physics, economics, finance, engineering, machine learning or related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of applied data science and fields such as data engineering and predictive modelling or strong academic background in statistics, mathematics, physics, or computer science
  • Master of Science degree or higher in computer science, statistics, mathematics, physics, economics, finance, engineering, machine learning or related field preferred.
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.

SKILLS

  • Passion for learning and innovating new methodologies at the intersection of big data, applied math / probability / statistics and computer science.
  • Proficient in translating unstructured business problems into an abstract mathematical framework.
  • Ability to communicate the results of analyses in a clear and effective manner using visualization tools.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to describe the logic and implications of a complex model to all types of partners (product managers, engineers, designers, senior executives).

SYSTEMS/TOOLS REQUIRED:

  • Python, Pandas, Scikit Learn, PySpark, SQL, Big Data experience
  • Palantir Foundry experience preferred (Contour, Quiver, Workshop, Slate, Code repository)
  • Power BI

Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative predictive models that are reliable, scalable, and modular and drive to business relevant outcomes.
  • Support ad hoc data requests from business users that will enhance productivity and efficiency to drive greater business performance.
  • Maintain, optimize, scale, and operationalize existing machine learning models in concert with key partners such as global, Advance Customer Experience team, BTS, project managers, and external vendors/partners.
  • Utilize data sets of varying degrees of size and complexity and develop novel ways to build creative predictive analytic solutions to work around data limitations.
  • Work with stakeholders to define business questions, requirements, timelines, objectives, and success criteria for data science initiatives.
  • Work closely with Business Technology Solutions (BTS) colleagues to ensure smooth transition of pilots into production.
  • Ensure Advanced Data Science components and projects conducted on time, accurately, within budget, and in accordance with all guidelines.
  • Apply your AI/ML/Deep Learning expertise to deliver advanced analytics models for key business projects all along the value chain: exploration, design, implementation and industrialization of data science models and products.
  • Create, maintain, and improve reports and visualizations to enable greater insights and allow stakeholders to make informed business decisions.
  • Perform exploratory analysis, provide data extracts, and support business critical operations.
