We are on the lookout for: Job Vacancy: Data Scientist The Data Scientist will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced analytics and machine learning models that generate tangible business impact. This role blends scientific rigor with strategic thinking to translate complex business problems into data-driven solutions, supporting innovation and informed decision-making across the organisation. In this role, you will, Lead complex analytical initiatives by developing and operationalizing advanced predictive, prescriptive, and causal models that address critical business challenges; Translate strategic business questions into data-driven hypotheses, analytical frameworks, and measurable outcomes; Assess and enhance data quality by ensuring robustness, consistency, and completeness across diverse data sources; Design, code, test, and maintain scalable algorithms and analytical pipelines using standardised software engineering practices and tools; Champion the development of reusable data science assets and frameworks, fostering scalability and consistency across analytics projects; Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and data engineers to design end-to-end data-driven solutions — from data ingestion to model deployment; Lead experimentation and A/B testing frameworks, quantifying the impact of data products and recommending corrective or optimisation actions; Mentor and guide junior data scientists, building technical depth and promoting analytical best practices within the team; Communicate complex model outputs and insights effectively to non-technical audiences through compelling storytelling, visualisation, and business narratives; Stay ahead of emerging technologies and methods in AI, machine learning, and statistical science; proactively experiment with new techniques such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, and generative AI; Contribute to the growth of MCB’s Data Science capability, supporting knowledge sharing, training, and internal community-building efforts; Uphold MCB Group’s data ethics, governance, and compliance standards, ensuring models and insights are responsibly developed and deployed. We are looking for a candidate who has a minimum of: Either A Bachelor Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline; 3 years of professional experience in data science or applied analytics, with a proven track record of delivering production-grade models end to end; Strong proficiency in Python and/or R for data science and analytics; Solid understanding of machine learning, optimisation, and statistical inference; Proficiency in SQL and exposure to big data platforms such as Spark, Hadoop, Databricks, or Flink; Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and MLOps tools for deployment and monitoring; Experience integrating analytical models into business systems and APIs. OR A Diploma in Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline; 8 years of professional experience in data science or applied analytics, with a proven track record of delivering production-grade models end to end; Strong proficiency in Python and/or R for data science and analytics; Solid understanding of machine learning, optimisation, and statistical inference; Proficiency in SQL and exposure to big data platforms such as Spark, Hadoop, Databricks, or Flink; Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and MLOps tools for deployment and monitoring; Experience integrating analytical models into business systems and APIs. You will also be required to demonstrate: Experience with ML libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, or H2O; Competence in data visualisation and storytelling using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik; Exposure to NLP, computer vision, or generative AI techniques as an advantage; Experience in banking, financial services, or fintech as an advantage; Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills; A proactive, ethical, and quality-driven approach to analytics and model development.
