Description
Description Data Scientist II identifies trends, patterns, and anomalies in datasets by performing extensive statistical and data analysis to develop insights. Performs data mining, cleaning, and aggregation processes to prepare data, conduct analysis, and develop databases. The individual should effectively utilize (and maintain) multiple structured and non-structured databases to design, develop, and implement the most valuable data-driven solutions for the organization. Due to the central role of Machine Learning (ML) in Predictant's mission, it is essential for a Data Scientist II to possess a solid comprehension of ML models, including classification, regression, and clustering. The person should be able to apply ML and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to tackle both current and novel issues in the domains of Non-destructive Testing (NDT). In addition, proficiency in feature engineering is a must for this role, as feature engineering is a crucial step in the ML pipelines, and it heavily contributes to the success of ML-based applications for NDT. The individual in this role will be responsible for rapidly testing new ideas and concepts, debugging and optimizing existing models. The role involves collaborating with team members and discussing ideas and innovative solutions for improving existing processes. Additionally, the person should be an excellent team player, always seeking to assist team members in achieving their objectives of developing exceptional data products. Essential Functions • Identify and gather relevant data from various sources, including structured and unstructured data. • Preprocessing and cleaning data to ensure data quality and consistency. • Exploring data using statistical methods, data visualization, and exploratory data analysis (EDA) techniques. • Perform feature engineering including selecting, transforming, and creating new features from raw data to improve the performance of machine learning models. • Develop and implement ML models and algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised learning methods. • Evaluating model performance using appropriate metrics and implementing measures to improve model performance. • Design and conduct experiments to test hypotheses and validate models. • Communicating findings and insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports, presentations, and data visualizations. • Demonstrate the necessary interpersonal skills to thrive in a team-oriented work environment. • Contribute to a strong collaborative team environment. • Demonstrate strong follow-through skills with ability to meet deadlines. • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while representing Predictant. • Adhere to all policies and procedures of Predictant. • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor. Requirements Qualifications • 2 to 4 years of experience as a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer • Bachelors’ or Master's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Science (Math, Physics, Statistics, etc.) is preferred. • Knowledge of Relational and Non-relational databases. • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and doing research. • Experience in feature engineering and data preprocessing techniques. • Knowledge of supervised and un-supervised machine learning models. • Experience using machine learning libraries in Python, such as scikit-learn and TensorFlow. • Experience in engineering, ultrasonic wave analysis, or audio signal processing is a plus. • Experience in uncertainty quantification of testing methods and predictive models is a plus. • Ability to work with a team to manage several project tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a timely manner. • Ability to communicate statistical analyses effectively (verbally and in writing) with all levels of management, employees, and outside contacts. • Ability to produce deliverables with accuracy and attention to detail. • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. • Good reading and math comprehension with attention to details. • Effective interaction and communication with colleagues, sub-consultants, clients and prospective clients. • Strong follow-through skills with ability to meet deadlines. • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and with others to complete tasks. • Typical office physical requirements – sitting, walking, computer work, filing, etc. • Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time. • Must be able to work in the Predictant office at least 3 days per work week.
Responsibilities
The Data Scientist II will identify trends and anomalies in datasets through statistical analysis and develop insights. They will also be responsible for data mining, cleaning, and implementing machine learning models to solve problems in Non-destructive Testing.
