Start YOUR career with DHL today… Role Purpose Data Science is and will increase to be a key contributor to business process optimization and increased customer experience, as all processes are underpinned by data these days. Extracting meaningful insights, predictions, and automation possibilities from this data requires data scientists. The Data Scientist will identify, develop, and implement prototypes for the business users and deploy best practices to optimize processes, systems, and methods using relevant data. The role will be based in Maastricht (NL), alternatively this role can be based in Bonn (DE). How will you contribute to the success of DHL? Derive analytical and data requirements from business needs & objectives. Cleanse, analyze, and report on different datasets from any function within the company. Interpret and visualize analytical results for business partners and other non-technical stakeholders. Develop statistical and/or optimization models (e.g., machine learning, deep learning, linear programming). Create solution prototypes for business users to experiment. Identify new use cases for the application of advanced analytics and facilitate a data-driven culture. Produce accurate outcomes on analytics tasks, ensuring reproducibility and precision of results. Do you have what it takes? Experience in applying Optimization / Operations Research techniques (e.g. Linear Programming, Metaheuristic Optimization, Swarm Intelligence, …) to complex large-scale problems Experience with using libraries such as such as Gurobi, Pulp or CPlex in combination with Python programming Experience with REST services and deployment of services in IT environments Experienced in analyzing large and complex datasets coming from different functions Knowledgeable about statistics, data visualization, machine learning Able to produce creative analytical solutions based on clear and thorough analyses of complex processes and business relationships Experienced in using our standard analytics tools such as: Python / Jupyter Lab, SQL and NoSQL, Power BI Comfortable in explaining complex analytical and technical content to various audiences Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic and international environment Energetic team player with a positive ‘can do’ attitude Success-oriented problem solver Independent work ethic, integrity and loyalty As a plus: Able to write simple web applications for users to test models / visualize results (e.g. Flask) Able to structure an optimized (relational) database Able to connect various data sources and preprocess raw data files (e.g. XML/JSON) Able to containerize applications for automated deployment Have software engineering skills Experience with Spark / Hadoop Able to write efficient, production-level Python code University Degree in a quantitative field preferred (e.g. Mathematics / Statistics / Physics / Computer Science / Industrial Engineering (or comparable) What's in it for you?
