Description
What's the role? As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will design, implement, and operationalize scalable ML pipelines and algorithms that support HERE’s Trips and sensor‑based data products. You will contribute to end‑to‑end software development, from problem definition to solution deployment, and collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to bring state‑of‑the‑art ML capabilities into production. In this role, you will: Design, implement, and optimize machine learning models for the Trips data pipeline. Build ML data pipelines to integrate and analyze large datasets, including map content, vehicle trajectories, sensor data, traffic‑centric references, and POI datasets. Collaborate with data scientists to translate models into high‑quality production code following HERE’s coding and architectural standards. Develop and maintain ML workflows using frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. Work within AWS services (EMR, EC2, S3, Lambda) and HERE’s internal platform to develop efficient, scalable, and cost‑optimized solutions. Implement secure and compliant processing practices to meet privacy and audit requirements. Build PoC applications and support transitioning prototypes into production‑grade systems. Monitor model performance, support model retraining, and implement continuous improvement techniques. Develop tools for automated and semi‑automated map data processing, as well as visualizations for insights and analytics. Partner with internal engineering teams and stakeholders to identify new opportunities and solve complex ML‑driven challenges. Research emerging ML, data lake, and data processing technologies and drive adoption within the team. Who are you? You are a collaborative and curious ML engineer with a strong software engineering foundation. You enjoy solving complex problems, working across diverse datasets, and applying modern ML and data-processing techniques to real‑world challenges. You bring the following skills and experience: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. Strong understanding of machine learning, data mining, regression, classification, clustering, probabilistic graphical models, deep learning, graph neural networks, and generative AI. Proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow. Programming experience in additional languages such as C++, JavaScript, Scala, Julia, or R. Experience with AWS tools such as EMR, EC2, S3, and Lambda. Familiarity with distributed systems and big‑data ecosystems such as Spark, Kafka, Storm, HDFS, and Airflow. Experience with GNSS probe sensor data or computer vision data (a plus). Strong skills in SQL and experience working with relational and NoSQL databases. Ability to manage multiple projects at varied maturity levels and work both independently and collaboratively. Experience with data visualization tools such as ESRI, Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly. What we offer HERE offers an opportunity to work in a cutting-edge technology environment with challenging problems to solve! You can make a direct impact on delivery of company´s strategic goals and the freedom to decide how to perform your work. We will support you in delivering your day-to-day tasks and achieving your personal goals and developing your skills. Personal development is highly encouraged at HERE.
